Laughter and Arena League Football with Sabrina Storm

Sports team owner Sabrina Storm has always been drawn to competitive and adventurous pursuits. Growing up in Nashville, TN, she took part in multiple ‘edgy’ activities like climbing trees and swimming in the river.

“I grew up playing basketball. My best friend was a boy up the street who taught me how to shoot hoops. When I entered high school, I was asked to try out and was one of the first lower level school kids to play on varsity,” says Sabrina. “It wasn’t until my 40s that I picked up tennis.”

A year ago, Sabrina’s husband became one of the major owners of the Jacksonville Sharks, a family-friendly arena football team. Getting involved with the Sharks was a perfect opportunity for Sabrina to engage in her passion for sports.

“After becoming an owner, my husband started the National Arena League so that all of our teams could share the same aspirations and goals. We won a national championship this year and we’re adding more teams next year. We’re aiming to be the number one arena league outside of Canada.”

Sabrina explains what makes her smile when she thinks of business and running the Sharks. “I enjoy the hard work that goes into it; seeing the rewards along the way,” she says. “Not just for yourself, but for others.”

Taking on Jacksonville Sharks responsibilities meant Sabrina was always interacting with a large crowd of fans, players, and employees. Sabrina loves to laugh, especially when she’s around the Sharks community, but never felt comfortable with her smile.

“Growing up I was always self-conscious about my laugh because I had a gap between my teeth. Later on I had braces and staining from Tetracycline medications, which meant I covered my mouth. This habit continued as I got older.”

Sabrina believes the key to success is never giving up in spite of obstacles. She was tired of hiding her smile, so she sought out Smile Stylist for a cosmetic smile makeover that gave her the confidence to laugh long and hard.

Fit at 50 and Smiling in the Sky with Beth Adair

Flight attendant and fitness model Beth Adair has been traversing the world from thousands of feet above the ground for over 25 years.

Early in her career, Beth put her health on the backburner, but quickly realized how much happier she felt once she invested time in her body, mind, and smile.

Beth was hired in 1992 – the last year flight attendants had a weight standard. To meet it, she significantly cut calories until rebounding when they removed the requirement six months later. “This lead to a weight of nearly 169. I knew I’d have to get my act together for my own satisfaction.”

At age 27, she started weight training and transformed her health. She’s so devoted that she fits in exercise whenever she can. Even on a 24-hour layover in Dusseldorf, she managed to run a dirt path along the Rhine River for an hour.

Beth loves inspiring others to laugh. On a recent flight out of Amsterdam, she struck up a conversation with a Parisian visiting New York. The young student had plans for karaoke and needed a recommendation. Beth’s answer: Van Halen. “I later said goodbye when he got off the plane by calling him Van Halen. He laughed when he got off.”

Beth’s positive personality and devotion to health are why she sought out Smile Stylists to completely enhance her smile. She chose the practice because of research that made her confident her veneers would be done right.

“I had only had my veneers for a few weeks when I got a free ticket to the Wendy Williams Show for my 49th birthday,” she says. “I got to the set and one of the ladies running the audience placement asked if I had any questions for Wendy because, ‘We really need to do something with those teeth, your smile is perfect’.”

As a fitness model, one of Beth’s most memorable experiences was being published in Oxygen Magazine Australia for a two-page spread. She has just celebrated her 50th birthday in Ireland and will continue to showcase both her new smile and fit figure in photo shoots.

Health Conscious Culinary Arts with Alison Kaplon

Personal chef Alison Kaplon found her purpose at a young age. She was amazed how it enabled her to achieve greater personal and professional satisfaction in adulthood.

“My passion for the culinary arts started when I was a child,” says Alison. “I often experimented in the kitchen by creating concoctions with whatever ingredients and equipment I could find.” This early curiosity was about more than just the flavor and taste possibilities. “I also loved helping my parents with dinner parties. It’s always a joy to cook for people, make them happy, and see the expression on their face.”

Alison explains that preparing mouthwatering, nourishing meals for others continued to fulfill her when she chose is at a career. “I now run my personal chef business, Cooking Creations By Ali, in Jacksonville, Florida, give farmers market tours, and teach a range of healthy cooking classes at Superior Body Sculpting,” she says. “I’ve also taught for the University of North Florida’s Osher Lifelong Leaning Institute and at various synagogues.”

Alison’s interests go beyond the realm of kitchen creativity, but they always involve an element of health. “My hobbies are fitness training and beast mode class at Superior Body Sculpting, bikram hot yoga at Bikram Yoga Jacksonville, traveling, spending quality time with my loved ones and cat, volunteering in the community, and exploring new restaurants.”

But there was still one area of Alison’s life that hadn’t yet benefited from her health conscious outlook: her smile. She wanted to devote an equal amount of care to it. Alison’s smile makeover left her more confident, especially for her many cooking classes and instructional videos. She gets even more joy from her profession now. “To me, being involved with the culinary arts is a delight and an ongoing learning process that I will forever be happy to take part in.”

Alison’s love of wellbeing and food motivated her to write a cookbook called Seasonal Farmers Market Favorites. She inspires readers to create well- balanced diets using her recipes.
