Health Conscious Culinary Arts with Alison Kaplon

Personal chef Alison Kaplon found her purpose at a young age. She was amazed how it enabled her to achieve greater personal and professional satisfaction in adulthood.

“My passion for the culinary arts started when I was a child,” says Alison. “I often experimented in the kitchen by creating concoctions with whatever ingredients and equipment I could find.” This early curiosity was about more than just the flavor and taste possibilities. “I also loved helping my parents with dinner parties. It’s always a joy to cook for people, make them happy, and see the expression on their face.”

Alison explains that preparing mouthwatering, nourishing meals for others continued to fulfill her when she chose is at a career. “I now run my personal chef business, Cooking Creations By Ali, in Jacksonville, Florida, give farmers market tours, and teach a range of healthy cooking classes at Superior Body Sculpting,” she says. “I’ve also taught for the University of North Florida’s Osher Lifelong Leaning Institute and at various synagogues.”

Alison’s interests go beyond the realm of kitchen creativity, but they always involve an element of health. “My hobbies are fitness training and beast mode class at Superior Body Sculpting, bikram hot yoga at Bikram Yoga Jacksonville, traveling, spending quality time with my loved ones and cat, volunteering in the community, and exploring new restaurants.”

But there was still one area of Alison’s life that hadn’t yet benefited from her health conscious outlook: her smile. She wanted to devote an equal amount of care to it. Alison’s smile makeover left her more confident, especially for her many cooking classes and instructional videos. She gets even more joy from her profession now. “To me, being involved with the culinary arts is a delight and an ongoing learning process that I will forever be happy to take part in.”

Alison’s love of wellbeing and food motivated her to write a cookbook called Seasonal Farmers Market Favorites. She inspires readers to create well- balanced diets using her recipes.
