Smile Design
In the Smile Icon Course, I teach smile design as a structured diagnostic system that starts with the face and works inward. We focus on choosing the correct esthetic reference planes, developing ideal incisal edge position and smile arc, and balancing tooth proportions, gingival architecture, and facial harmony so the result looks natural in motion, not just in a still photo. Doctors leave with a repeatable framework for designing smiles, communicating goals to the lab, and planning the right sequence of orthodontics, gingival refinement, or restorative treatment to achieve predictable outcomes.
Occlusion
In the Smile Icon course, I teach occlusion through a simple, practical framework that makes risk recognition easy in everyday cosmetic cases. We classify patients as Healthy, Avoider, Destroyer, or Bruxer, then walk through what each type means for case selection, bite planning, and long-term protection of veneers and anterior restorations. Doctors leave knowing how to spot the warning signs, communicate risk clearly, and make the right occlusal decisions to keep their aesthetic results stable.
Protocol
In the Smile Icon course, the lecture covers the complete step-by-step protocol from smile design and preparation planning through prototype provisionals, cementation, and occlusal finishing. During the live patient portion, doctors watch me perform the full workflow in real time, including how I customize and refine the provisionals chairside to fit the patient and guide the final result. Then, in the hands-on workshops, doctors apply the same concepts by practicing veneer preparation and veneer cementation on models so they leave with a repeatable, confident protocol they can use immediately in practice.
Materials
In the Smile Icon course, the materials section focuses on how to choose ceramics based on esthetics and indication, not just what is popular. We compare the most common veneer material options in terms of translucency, value control, thickness requirements, masking ability, and how each one affects the final smile design. We also cover how material selection directly impacts preparation requirements, including when you can stay conservative and when additional reduction is necessary to create space for strength, color control, and proper contours. Doctors leave knowing how to match the material to the patient’s goals and clinical reality, and how to communicate those choices clearly to the lab for predictable results.
Photography
In the Smile Icon course, the photography section goes beyond how to take great pictures and focuses on how to use photography as a clinical and marketing tool. Doctors learn the exact photo series I capture for smile design, case acceptance, and lab communication, including how I vary lighting depending on the purpose, such as clean, high-contrast lighting for shade and texture accuracy with the lab, and softer studio or presentation lighting for patient-facing content. We also cover what to do with those photos after the appointment, including how to select the right images, tell the story of a case, and create ethical marketing content that builds trust and attracts the right patients.
